We spend so much time and effort to create value-packed lead magnets and increase conversions, but a high-converting lead magnet only matters if you can leverage it to grow and scale your business. Right?

After users subscribe to your freebie and get on your list, if you don't nurture your list, communicate regularly, provide value and send relevant content that they actually care about, you'll have a high unsubscription rate.

No one looks forward to "more emails" in their inbox everyday. So unless your emails are related to a topic they care about and are interested in โ€“ theyโ€™ll not hesitate to click the unsubscribe link.

The ๐Ÿ”‘ to List Building and Engagement is Segmentation

The key to building your list and keeping your list engaged is to make each message as relevant and personal as possible, especially as your list starts to get up there in size.

3 Types of Segmentation

If you use a static opt-in form like most people still do, you canโ€™t segment new subscribers right away. You'll have to wait until they start opening and clicking on your emails to segment, and only then you can personalize the content. 

But there's a better way to segment that's not dependent on your subscribers opening or clicking on links in your email to segment themselves.

Then follow these steps to setup and test outcome-based segmentation.
1. Create a list in your email platform
2. Create a simple personality quiz with 1 single choice question
3. Create 4 different outcomes
4. Assign outcome tags to each outcome
5. Add 4 answer choices (one per outcome)
6. Connect each answer in the question to an outcome
7. Connect quiz to to the right list in your email platform
8. Publish and test the quiz.
9. See if users are being added to the list in your email platform with the right tag based on outcome
